Provenance and trust

Not all knowledge is equal. OKF makes the difference machine-readable.

Sources

sources:
  - label: AWS Well-Architected cost guidance
    url: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/wellarchitected/

A source says where a claim came from. Agents can prefer concepts with sources over unsourced ones, and humans can audit upstream material.

Verification events

verified:
  - at: 2026-07-15
    by: platform team
note: Confirmed against current CI configuration.

Each event records that a named party checked the content at a date. Multiple events build a review history without rewriting the document.

Trust tiers

Readers derive a tier from the metadata: unverified (no signals), machine-confirmed (checked by tooling), human-reviewed (a person signed off). Renderers display the tier; agents can weight retrieval accordingly. A stale concept - one whose staleAfter date has passed - announces its own decay instead of poisoning sessions silently.

The habit to build: when you correct an agent, record the correction as a verification event. The next session inherits the lesson.
